Selva, a region situated in Costa Brava, near Barcelona, made up of stocks and Blanes, Lloret de Mar, Tossa de Mar, Sils, Maçanet de la Selva, Santa Coloma de Farners, Riudarenes...

The particularity of the region of La Selva, is that stretches from the Costa Brava to mountain areas as the Montseny i Guilleries, thus there is a wide variety of natural and cultural offer. Water is the predominant element, common and manifests in the form of rivers, gorges, spas, ponds, swamps (like Susqueda), beaches, coves, etc.. Just the presence of hot springs and spas in the area become a destination for health tourism and relaxation. The local cuisine is meticulous and traditional, offering a wide range of possibilities to combine elements of mountain and sea.


Environmental tourism resources:

Montseny Natural Park: Located at the eastern end of the Catalan pre-coastal mountain range, this is one of the largest protected parks known in Catalonia. It rises between the valleys of the region of Selva, Osona, and Vallès Oriental 30.000hectáreas over. We can easily access from anywhere and enjoy the pleasures that offers environmental, with changing landscapes of forests of oak, beech and chestnut trees and excellent views over the territory. There are a lot of trails on foot or by mountain bike marked suitable for all ages. Highlight excursions to the highest peaks: Matagalls (1h30min), Les Agudes (2h 30min) and the Turo de l'Home (1h 45min). The latter is also accessible by private vehicle.

Natural Area-Savassona Guilleries: in the eastern part of the region find this area of great natural interest, from the plain of Vic, Collsacabra, Montseny and the region of Selva. The landscape is dominated by the difference in the two regions: a typical Mediterranean forest other central European forests. The Sau reservoir and major rock cliffs that surround it form a striking landscape. There are points of interest include the Gorge Horadada or Salto de Sallent (waterfall of 100m).

Top Beaches: Playa Grande (Tossa de Mar), Cala de Sant Francesc, Treumal Creek, Coleta Sa Playa, Cala d'En Thunder, Canyelles Cala, Cala Futadera, Playa de Vallpregona.


Cultural Resources:

La Vila Vella, Tossa de Mar: Playa Grande in Tossa is the latest sign of a fortified medieval village in the Catalan coast. It was constructed between the XII and XIV to protect the people of piracy of the time. The conservation of all its elements is excellent (towers, walls, doors, etc..) Whilst we offer a panoramic view of the beach of Tossa and forest lands. Declared a national historic-artistic monument in 1931.

Far Sanctuary: in the eastern part of the cliffs of the ridge rises Tavertet the 1123metros Far to the sea level. Alto you can find the sanctuary of Mare de Déu del Far, a Gothic church was rebuilt in the fifteenth century as a restaurant and a leisure area. The view from this point are impressive: on clear days can see many parts of Catalonia and the Pyrenees, the Medes Islands, Montserrat, etc. We can easily walk from St.Martí Sacalm (duration 2.30 h).



Traditional Festivals:

Pilgrimage of St. Brígida: It is held in early February at Ermita de la Santa, Amer. Hikers walk or bike up to the chapel and there is the competition with Cargoliner Whistle (small white shells), collected during the trip.

Chestnut Roasters Contest: Held on the first weekend of November. It is a traditional festival in the village Amer, where you should discuss who is the best chestnut roaster.

Booths: Held the first week of May, sixteenth-century tradition Arbúcies. Corpus starts before Sunday's contest with a floral carpet, popular sausage is made, sardanas among other activities.


Active tourism

La Selva offers completely different spaces, from the landscapes of the Montseny Guilleries to the coastal area. The so-called Big Water Road, rich in water resources allow us to enjoy walking and cycling.

An outstanding excursion in this region is the Amaradors route. This is suitable for the whole family with a duration of about two hours, very well marked with informative signs. Leaving from Satitja passing through Sant Dalmai and Crosa volcano.

Mountain Bike Centre in Amer, find a host with information point with services and more than a hundred kms signposted and all free paths.

On the other hand, we can enjoy the qualities and properties of the water visiting the different thermal pools of the region, adventure sports, nautical, etc.
